Documentary filmmakers in the Northeast can now prepare their films and participate in the 2nd edition of the Cine Proa Documentary Festival. Registrations are free and open until August 22. The festival will take place from November 2 to 7, with a face-to-face and free program in the Rio Corrente neighborhood and in the Rajada district, in Petrolina.

Films with a duration of up to 25 minutes, completed from January 1, 2024, are eligible to participate. The selection is open to individuals, legal entities, with or without profit, and collectives, as long as they indicate a responsible representative.

In this edition, three competitive shows will be held, divided according to the origin of the filmmakers. Each category may select up to six films:

– Carranca Cine Proa Show (for documentary works produced by filmmakers from the Pernambuco Hinterland, covering the municipalities that make up the region);

– Nego D’Água Cine Proa Show (for documentary works produced by filmmakers from Pernambuco, except those included in the Carranca show);

– Serpente de Fogo Cine Proa Show (for documentary works produced by filmmakers from the other states of the Northeast Region, except those included in the previous shows).

Award

Each film selected for the official program will receive a Exhibition Award of R$ 500, according to the rules of the regulations.

The results will be announced on October 7, on the festival’s official website, which also provides the regulations and guidelines for participation. The complete program will be announced on October 20, with screenings, debates, conversation tables, training activities, and other cultural events.

Interested parties can register for free until August 22 through the form available at this link.
